Lockdown has created a situation where families have no real choice but to be in close proximity, throughout the day. For a loving family, this is no problem. However, for those unfortunate enough to be suffering from abuse, the forced lockdown is nothing but a ticking time bomb.
Many individuals will no longer feel the relief associated with their abuser leaving home for work or recreation. Now, it’s a constant battle to control one’s nerves and to keep oneself safe.
If you feel like the description above relates to you, the good news is that there is support out there for you.
At the Excel Women’s Centre, we provide advice on domestic abuse, housing and welfare benefits. You are always welcome to call us for support – 0208 594 3730.
